Godalming Plod is a place where people can come to run. It’s that simple.
I was inspired to start Godalming Plod when a friend of mine
struggled to get the support she needed from her local running club while training for her
first marathon, because she ran at a slower pace than many of the other runners
at the club. I felt compelled to provide
a place that would welcome slower runners in my local area, whether they want
to run 200 metres, 2 miles or 26.2 miles.
I want this running group to be about
having fun and for people to just be able to enjoy getting out and running through
our beautiful countryside, without having to feel like they have to progress to
7 minute miles, if they don't want to!
Everyone is welcome to come along to Godalming Plod, unless you
are too quick, in which case, you may want to look at joining one of the local
athletics clubs, such as the fantastic Waverley Harriers. If you run at a slower pace, or have never
tried running and want to give it a go in an encouraging and supportive
environment, then please come along and give us a try, we’d love to see you and
get you running.
We are not a competitive club.
We will not be entering any racing leagues, or pushing you to enter
races, although if you wish to do so, we’ll do everything we can to support you
in that goal. Likewise, if you want to
use Godalming Plod as a starting point on your way to becoming a faster runner
with a view to joining an athletics club, that’s fine too. Whatever your running goal is, we will do our
utmost to support you.
